Road Lab Pro is a data collection application developed for engineers, originally commissioned by the World Bank in collaboration with Beldor Center, SoftTeco, and Progress Analytics LLC (http://progressana.com).

The app utilizes accelerometers embedded in smartphones to assess road conditions, create detailed maps of road networks, identify significant bumps, and report various safety hazards. Additionally, users can upload images of potholes, black spots, accidents, and other road anomalies with simple tagging for contextual clarity.

Notably, the application operates without requiring a data plan; all collected data can be conveniently emailed or uploaded to a personal Dropbox account once Wi-Fi connectivity is available. For optimal data collection, the mobile device should be mounted stably on a horizontal surface within the vehicle, preferably affixed securely to the windshield.

It is important to be aware that continuous GPS usage in the background can significantly impact battery life during operation.
